The CRTC has announced calls for applications for a station to serve the Vancouver area. Interested parties must submit a duly completed application to the Commission no later than September 17, 2015.
The Commission’s preliminary view is that the Vancouver market would best be served by proposals targeting the ethnic communities. However, it does not preclude any other types of applications.
According to the most recent financial data for the market, radio advertising attracted $121.2-million in 2013 with approximately $86.7M drawn from the local market and $34.4M from national advertisers. Staffing counts in the same year were pegged at 588 people and operating margins averaged 25.5 percent.
