Teddy Bear Affair Raises $1.4M For Abused Kids

The 29th annual Teddy Bear Affair fundraiser gala for abused kids raised $1.4-million at a black-tie event held at Toronto Metro Convention Centre on Saturday night (Nov. 28th). The 880 VIP guests at the dinner-and-show event (which included the Slaight Family Foundation as a Platinum sponsor) were hosted by The Amazing Race Canada’s John Montgomery. Splendido restaurant's John Barry was the evening's Celebrity Chef.

The highlight of the evening was a mass choir — featuring 120 students from the Randolph Academy of the Arts, the Faith Chorale, and backing singers Selena Evangeline, Jackie Richardson and Sharon Riley — in a rousing finale of “Higher & Higher” under the leadership of music director Bill King.

About:

One in every 25 children in Canada is at risk and need our help. Many suffer in poverty, while others have been victims of abuse and neglect. A staggering 76,000 of them live in foster homes or a residential facility. The mission of the Children’s Aid Foundation is to fund programs that give them skills and hope for a promising future.
