eOne and ole Ink Music Publishing Rights Management Deal

Given that they are both Toronto-based independent music companies making a major international impact, a close relationship between Entertainment One (eOne), a global independent studio and music company and ole, the world's fastest growing independent rights management company, would seem to make perfect sense.

That came to fruition yesterday with the announcement that the two companies have completed a worldwide music publishing rights management deal.

Under the partnership, ole will manage and administer wide-ranging music publishing efforts for eOne’s extensive music catalog, which contains commercial music, and music from film and television productions on a global basis.

With a library of more than 100,000 hours of film and television content and a catalogue of 40,000 music tracks, eOne brings chart-topping music artists across multiple genres and top-tier film and television brands including Hell on WheelsYou Me Her, Eye In The Sky, PJ Masks, and The Book of Negroes to the partnership.

A press release notes that “The deal builds on eOne’s commitment to growing a first-class music publishing business encompassing film, television and music.”
ole CEO & Chairman Robert Ott stated that “We’re very pleased that eOne has chosen ole to provide Music Publishing Rights Management administration and we look forward to adding value to eOne’s impressive properties.”

President of eOne Music Global, Chris Taylor, added that “The expansion of our relationship with indie music and rights management leader ole is very exciting. ole has built a state of the art technology platform that will offer our production partners, writers and composers a best-in-class solution. We are excited about the momentum of our Music Publishing business and we look forward to working with Robert and his talented team as it continues to grow and brings music publishing for film, television programming and commercial music production worldwide across eOne under a single unit.”

An earlier professional relationship between Robert Ott and Chris Taylor came with ole teaming up with Last Gang Publishing (a company owned by Taylor and now integrated into eOne) on some joint ventures. For instance, in November 2015, the ole-Last Gang Publishing co-venture signed a worldwide administration deal with Canadian DJ/producer Ryan Hemsworth. Under the deal, the enterprise handles royalty collection for Hemsworth’s catalogue of albums, EPs, and singles.
