ole Remains On A Roll

There wasn’t a great deal of suspense around the Music Publishing Company of the Year award at the  2016 Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Awards in London, ON, on the weekend.

You see, it went to ole, for the tenth consecutive year. In a press release, Robert Ott, Chairman & CEO of ole, stated that “ole is honored that the CCMA has recognized this great team and our songwriters for a record-breaking tenth consecutive year. ole intends to work hard to remain deserving of this support.”

ole’s writers were also awarded, with Gord Bamford receiving the “Album of the Year” award for Tin Roof. Bamford also earned the “CMA Jeff Walker Global Country Artist Award,” which recognizes outstanding achievements by a Country Music artist signed outside of the United States.

ole Nashville and its many songwriters continue to score great success. In a press release last week, the company stated that “Achievements through Q3 of 2016 include chart-topping hits, 25+ international singles, and dozens of cuts recorded by elite artists in the US and Canada.

“Led by John Ozier, Vice President, Nashville Creative for ole, the team has consistently delivered on the mandate to build writer, development artist and catalog success at ole. Highlight signings include over a dozen writers including Jeremy Stover, Tony Martin, and Phil O’Donnell. ole Nashville has also added artists including Tyler Farr, Jordan Davis, Josh Dorr, Adam Hambrick, Travis Denning, and Sam Grow in deals ranging from publishing to full development and upstreaming.

“With so many talented staff and artists, now is a special time to be at ole Nashville,” Ozier says. “In 2016 alone we’ve achieved over 25 hit singles, and placed dozens of cuts with the best performers in the world – including three artists with #1 country albums this year. ole continues to expand its roster. Last week the company announced that it has signed an exclusive deal with country singer/songwriter Jacob Powell.

The deal grants ole exclusive publishing rights, including exclusive administration of Powell’s YouTube channel, and the exclusive option to fund future master recordings with the objective to upstream him to a major record label. As a part of this deal, Powell delivers a schedule A of 45 songs, many of which were co-written with ole songwriters such as Jeremy Stover, April Geesbreght, Phil O’Donnell and Adam Hambrick.

“I’m really looking forward to working with and being a part of the ole family,” says Powell in a press release. “I feel like I’m in the right place and can’t wait to get new music out and hit the road again. We are going to do great things together!”

“We are incredibly proud to add Jacob Powell to the ole roster,” says John Ozier, Vice President, Creative of ole. “Jacob is a great songwriter and an impactful artist. Together, we are going to accomplish amazing things.”
