Harrow Fair: Wicked Game
Harrow Fair -- "Wicked Game" (Roaring Girl/Cadence): In honour of Valentine's Day, we present a superb new cover of one of the sexiest hit songs of the last three decades.
"Wicked Game" has been the biggest hit song and video in the career of its writer, Chris Isaak, and has been covered by many other artists. Few acts do it as well as Toronto roots duo, Harrow Fair.
Miranda Mulholland and Andrew Penner alternate vocals on this haunting version. Their voices complement each other perfectly, and the sparse arrangement is equally effective.
Harrow Fair is a new project, but Mulholland (formerly of Great Lake Swimmers) and Penner (Sunparlour Players) are respected veterans of Canada's roots music scene. Their 2016 debut album, Call To Arms, has notched plenty of critical praise.
HF is now making waves outside Canada too. Current US dates include a Rockboat cruise, then showcases at Folk Alliance International in Kansas City (Feb. 16-19)., followed by three shows in Quebec and two more US gigs. Itinerary here.
