Midnight Shine: Sister Love
Midnight Shine - "Sister Love" (Independent): This is a new single from the James Bay quartet, and is now available on Bandcamp. CD Baby, iTunes and Spotify.
The group’s career was fast-tracked after making a splash at last year’s Canadian Music Week, earning media praise from high-profile outlets including CBC’s The National and The Toronto Star, and winning the support and backing of UTA’s Ralph James.
“Sister Love” holds a special memory for Adrian Sutherland who co-wrote it with his sister, Iris. He says it’s about freeing one’s self from the weight of the word.
“Some of us get stuck in a hard place, and when we do, it would be nice to go back to those days when life was good and more simple,” he explains. “In our thoughts, we can go there and be in that place again, even just for a brief moment. That’s what the song means to me.”
Expect to see various members in Juno city next month; meantime, Midnight Shine is confirmed to play the Main Stage RBC Bluesfest in Ottawa on July 16, just prior to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers headlining the event.
