Taylor Knox – “Running Into Love” (Cadence Music): After making a mark as drummer for the likes of Hayden, Luke Doucet, Alvvays, and the Golden Dogs, Taylor Knox has moved into the spotlight as a power pop singer/songwriter of genuine talent.
He debuted with 2015 EP Lines, and he will release a full-length album, Love, on June 9th. It features some high-profile collaborators, such as co-producers Bahamas and Josh Korody (Dilly Dally) and the mixing team of Gus Van Go and Werner F. (Whitehorse)
An early summer release is fitting, as there is a bright and sunny vibe to Knox’s guitar-driven sound. That is neatly encapsulated on the first single, “Running Into Love.”
Melodic and as catchy as the flu in January, it has a slightly retro psychedelic feel, with Knox's upbeat vocals bolstered by backing vocals from Molly Rankin, Alvvays a good thing.
The sweet new video for the track includes projections of old family photographs Knox uncovered. He explains that ‘”’Running Into Love' is one of the more nostalgic sounding songs on the record, so I wanted the video to signal some of those feelings.”
Starting June 15 at The Starlight in Waterloo, Knox has a six date Ontario tour, plus a July 6 show at Montreal’s La Vitrola. His tour dates here
