The New Electric- “T-Shirt” (Independent): This Calgary-based pop band has made serious moves over the past 18 months. 2015's debut single “Life’s What You Make It” became a multi-format hit (Hot AC and CHR), and was nominated for a CRMA Award this year. It was actually the 26th most played Pop song in 2016 on Canadian Commercial Pop Radio (CHR / Hot AC formats)
The New Electric was named Corus Radio's "Next Big Thing" and Bell Media's "Future Star" in October 2015, and won as Group of the Year at the 2016 YYC Awards.
The 2016 debut EP Living Loud showed that was no fluke, and it introduced the group as owners of a sound that manages to seem both retro and contemporary.
Don’t be surprised if new single “T-Shirt” scores similar success. It is a frothy confection, with a sensual feel to complement such lines as “you look best to me when you wake up in my T-shirt.”
The production values are high, no surprise given that that the track was co-written and produced by Ryan Stewart (Carly Rae Jepsen, Simple Plan).
The band is currently on a cross-Canada tour, co-headlining with Courage My Love. Tour dates here
