Cat Clyde – Like A Wave

Cat Clyde – “Like A Wave” (Cinematic Music Group): Looking for a fresh new roots music voice? If so, we reckon Cat Clyde fits the bill.

We caught the Stratford-based singer/songwriter at a Dakota Tavern set during CMW and came away highly impressed. That has been reaffirmed by listening to her brand new album, Ivory Castanets, released last week.

“Like a Wave” is one of its focus tracks, and it’s a gentle and sparse tune that is as refreshing as a swim in the warm Caribbean. A fluent and tasteful electric guitar weaves in and out of the vocals, delivered devoid of affectation and in a subtly mesmerizing fashion by Clyde.

Word on her talent is spreading quickly, with Zane Lowe recently premiering a song on his Beats 1 Radio Show and her tunes registering solid numbers on YouTube.

Cat Clyde returns to The Dakota for an early show on May 11, followed by a gig at the Virginia Ave Folk Fest in Indianapolis on May 13.
