SATE: The Answer

SATE: "The Answer" (CLK Creative Works): This fiery and funky hard rocker from Toronto has a sound she describes as "dirty rock n roll, afropunk, blues, funk for your ass!" "Tina Turner fronting Black Sabbath" is one memorable description.

She has just put out a video for "The Answer," one of the focus tracks off her 2016 full-length debut album, RedBlack&Blue.

The track is more nuanced and dynamic than some of her funk-rock material. Searing guitar and her full-blooded, paint-stripping vocal power are both in in full force, though.

Visually, she is in full warrior woman mode on the eye-catching video clip directed by Mark Valino, one that contains images that may disturb some piano lovers. Lyrically, the cut "is about fighting for your dreams no matter what people say."

SATE has just left for Europe, where she'll play six shows in France, plus festival dates in Switzerland, England and Denmark. Signs are that Europe is falling for her seductive powers quicker than Canada, and she has already toured there multiple times.

On Canada Day, this scribe attended SATE's show at Toronto's Humber Bay Park, but it was cut short by a storm. Considering she is a force of nature herself, that's a tad ironic.

Fascinating fact: She is the daughter of Canadian jazz/blues legend Salome Bey.
