Canada's Last Record Chain: Sunrise Records Is Expanding

Sunrise Records, Canada's last man standing record chain, Sunrise Records, opened a new store at Brampton Shoppers World this past Saturday. It's the 7th store for the Ontario-based business that sells vinyl/CD and pop merch. Company official Tim Baker texted to say North Bay will be home to the next location in July.

Why Buy Local?

Spend $100 at a local store and $68 of that stays in your community. Spend the same $100 at a national chain, and your community only sees $43. Local businesses create higher-paying jobs for our neighbors. More of your taxes are reinvested in your community — where they belong.

Local retailers are your friends and neighbors — support them and they’ll support you. Local businesses donate to charities at more than twice the rate of national chains. More independents means more choice, more diversity, and a truly unique community. Don’t just support Sunrise Records… support all the local businesses in your area.

There is a movement afoot in the music industry — a resolve to nurture the old-school record store. Some of the biggest bands in the world are making sure that the independent record stores get exclusive stuff — vinyl, singles, posters, and all sorts of cool free stuff. That stuff is available at Sunrise. The musicians think the real record store is worth preserving and so do we. Shop at Sunrise Records for the best indie entertainment value in Canada.
