Videotron is offering a mobile game-changer plan to its customers: Music streaming without data caps.
Owned by Quebecor, the company primarily serves Quebec, as well as the francophone communities of New Brunswick and some parts of Eastern Ontario.
Media publisher Cartt.ca broke the story this morning, reporting that the Quebec mobile provider has launched its Unlimited Music service, which exempts a series of streaming services including Stingray, Rdio, Google Play, Deezer and Spotify from counting toward mobile data usage for customers with Canada-wide plans with at least 2GB data. A typical plan with the Telco comes in at about $65 per month.
The online publisher reports that the 'unlimited' offer is exclusive to music streaming services at this point, thus excluding radio stations that offer live streaming.
