Rogers Media has partnered with YouTube and launched a weekly radio program that covers the music trends and emerging Canadian talent gaining steam on the social web.
The hour-long Saturday show titled YouTube Hits is hosted by Kiss 92.5′s Blake Carter and Adam Wylde and airs across Rogers’ youth-oriented pop music stations in Ontario, Alberta and BC. Each week, the on air duo will interview YouTube celebrities, run down viral news from top channels for entertainment, fashion, and gaming, play a mix of hits from top 40 artists charting on YouTube and breakout artists who are building up an audience online.
“This partnership with YouTube was a natural marriage with our Rogers Radio youth brands," said Julie Adam, Senior Vice President, Radio, Rogers. “YouTube has emerged not only as the delivery platform for some of the world’s biggest trendsetters, but also as a powerful incubator for new talent. Curating and condensing the best of this content in one place for our audiences is top of mind for us in giving our listeners a unique experience when tuning to our stations.”
Online, YouTube Hits will be available via live stream, and plans on building up its presence in partnership with YouTube influencers featured on the show.
The premiere edition included on-air appearances by four Canadian YouTube stars: Daniela Andrade (700,000 subscribers), ConvosWith2YrOld (790,000 subscribers), MakeUpByEman (350,000 subscribers), and Corey Vidal (225,000 subscribers).
