Deadmau5 Leaves Capitol For Kobalt, Pumps The Fact He Has $130M In the Bank
Deadmau5, the outspoken techno house music producer and super DJ, has announced he's through with record companies and has struck a deal with British rights management and publishing firm Kobalt to represent him internationally. Never short for words, the Canadian born Joel Zimmerman has also stated publicly that he has $130 million in the bank and a white board full of "cool ideas".
The new route puts an end to an 18 month affiliation with Capitol’s Astralwerks imprint, which released the 2014 double-album while(1<2). According to Nielsen Music, Zimmerman has sold 1.2 million albums and 4.2 million tracks in the US.
The masked mouseheaded Canadian producer, who rode the EDM boom up to the ranks of its top earners — reportedly commands upward of US$500,000 per show and raked in an estimated $15 million in 2014.
