Mimi Oz: Dreaming Again

Mimi Oz – “Dreaming Again” (Bandcamp): Canadian artist Mimi Oz is a bit of a Pollyanna with a strong sense of personal justice and pathos mixed into songs that can be whimsical, and sometimes almost brutishly honest. Her maiden’s voice is pure and her throwback style mixes elements of country, pop, folk with a smidgen of punk to it. This new video song is taken from Men Who Never Loved Me -- her fall sophomore album release, funded by the Ontario Arts Council and available for streaming and purchase on Bandcamp. Her earlier release in 2013 was produced by Bob Wiseman, a hint she’s no run-of the-mill Mimi. She currently resides in Brooklyn and performs mostly new material with her band Rooster about her experiences living in the Big Apple.
