-- The increasing importance of podcasting is evident with news that US-media company E.W. Scripps has acquired the podcasting service Stitcher for US$4.5m from Paris-based music subscription service Deezer, according to a Wall Street Journal report. Scripps now plans to run Stitcher as part of its Midroll Media podcast advertising unit.

-- In a keynote interview at MIDEM over the weekend, Pandora CEO Tim Westergren talked about Pandora's plan to build an on-demand service to complement its market-leading streaming radio platform, and the company's support of the music industry.
