Needles//Pins: All The Same
Needles//Pins - "All The Same" (Mint Records): This Vancouver punk band will release the album Good Night, Tomorrow on June 30, and this focus track demonstrates why Needles//Pins are contenders.
This is high-energy and intense stuff, but there's melody amidst the muscle. The gruff vocals of Adam Solomonian bring to mind Mike Ness (Social Distortion) and Jake Burns (Still Little Fingers), with Husker Du another reference point for the trio's guitar-heavy sound.
The new album was recorded in Vancouver with Jesse Gander (Japandroids, White Lung) at Rain City Recorders, and he gooses their sound effectively.
Needles//Pins, formed in 2009, have released two earlier albums and a stack of 7-inch singles. Portland’s Dirt Cult Records has partnered with Vancouver-based Mint to co-release the new record.
Word is this an explosive band live. A Canadian tour begins at Toronto's Horseshoe on June 16, followed by fest shows at Ottawa's Explosion (June 17, Sled Island in Calgary (June 22-24), and an album release show at SBC in Vancouver on June 30. A full itinerary here
