Monowhales: Take It Back

Monowhales - “Take It Back” (Indie): Under their previous moniker, Ginger Ale & The Monowhales, this Toronto band made a splash last year with the track "Home," a catchy love song to their city. We're not sure why the band name is shortened now, but there is still plenty of fizz in their bubbly brand of pop.

This new single is quickly registering, entering the most active Indies chart this week.

It is easy to hear why, for "Take It Back" is an irresistibly catchy cut, one given muscle by the production of Al-P, of MSTRKRFT fame. The energized guitars are frisky and full-blooded, while the stuttering "t - t - take it back" refrain is infectious.

As with "Home," the track is boosted by a charming and visually appealing video clip. The band’s take on the popular Instagram hashtag #SatisfyingVideos, it features images of slime, kinetic sand, painted fruit and more, along with vividly coloured performance footage.

Monowhales recently announced a fall co-headline tour with Featurette, entitled The Big Bang Tour. It starts at Maxwell's in Kitchener on Nov. 7, concluding at the Moustache Club in Oshawa, on Nov. 18. A full itinerary here
