The Launch, CTV’s big-budget, six-part talent search where unknown singers are matched with original songs, is to be teased starting this month with tracks spun on Bell Media’s affiliated iHeartRadio Top 40, Hot AC, and AC stations.
The original songs will soon be blasted on the iHeartRadio chain months in advance of the show hitting the air sometime in early 2018.
The 30 artists set to appear on the reality television series, selected from among 10,000 emerging performers following an international casting call and completion, have yet to be disclosed.
In addition to the new songs securing regular rotation, the newly launched artist behind the chosen song will appear on iHeartRadio morning shows across Canada.
"There is no better place for music's next original, chart-topping songs to live than on iHeartRadio Canada," said Rob Farina, head of radio content, strategy, & iHeartRadio, in a news release. "As the excitement intensifies leading up to the premiere of The Launch, we are thrilled to align with this amazing new series, and look forward to serving iHeartRadio's die-hard music and pop culture fans, listeners, and followers with the latest new music and behind-the-scenes movements of each newly launched artist."
Last month the series was pitched to global platforms at the annual MIPCOM trade show in Cannes, France. Celebrity judges including Shania Twain and Boy George give the unique song-based reality show international appeal. The music series designed to rocket unknowns to household names is part of Bell Media President Randy Lennox’s strategy to transform BCE’s in-house mass-media television, broadcasting, and production assets into a content generator for international audiences.
