Here’s the list of confirmed speakers, events, and award recipients announced by the San Rafael ’71 and Amsterdam Brewing-sponsored Canadian Music Week, Conferences and Awards taking place May 9 - 12, at Toronto’s Sheraton Centre and Rebel Entertainment Complex.
The Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Awards are to be hosted by Jessi Cruickshank on Thursday, May 10.
Previously announced honourees include Arcade Fire, as the recipients of the Allan Slaight Humanitarian Spirit Award; Paul Anka, as the Allan Waters Broadcast Lifetime Achievement Award recipient; and Robert 'TooTall' Wagenaar (CHOM FM), Patti-Anne Tarlton (Ticketmaster), Jeff Craib (The Feldman Agency), and David Farrell (FYI Music) as the 2018 inductees to the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame.
Paul Shaffer will again host the Live Music Industry Awards on Friday, May 11, where band Billy Talent will receive the Legends of Live Special Achievement Award at the Sheraton Centre, Dominion Ballroom.
Canadian Music Week and The Guild of Music Supervisors present the first annual Canadian Sync Awards on Saturday, May 12, sponsored by songtradr.
Nominees include music supervisors, synch teams, publishers, record companies, broadcast and advertising firms with categories including Best Music Supervision - Feature or Documentary Film, Best Sync - Commercial, Sync Artist or Songwriter of the Year and the Icon Award.
The Tech and Innovation Summit (formerly Digital Media Summit), on Wednesday, May 9, features educational sessions about Spotify, The Launch TV talent search, a VR/AR expo and a keynote from Jackie Wilgar, Marketing EVP at Live Nation.
CMW's 4-day Music Summit will include celebrity interviews, panels and workshops May 9 -12.
