Foxtrott - "Wait" (One Little Indian): Foxtrott is the working moniker of Marie-Hélène L. Delorme, a Montreal-based producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. On June 15, she will release the first of a series of three EPs, Meditations I-II-III, and a lyric video for "Wait," one of its tracks, is now out.
It is an intriguing slice of electro-pop, with sparse and trippy production underscoring lyrics tracing romantic obsession.
In a label press release, Delorme explains that "'Wait' is a movement forward towards a brighter place, an urgency to follow the tingling feeling one gets when something or someone rings true calls them. It’s a commitment to make oneself available to this renewal, and being willing to leave things behind by doing so. It’s a feeling of love so strong that one cannot ignore it or deny it. Musically, it is a warm pulse, a grounded but expansive energy. Vocally, it is intimate and upfront, with no “vocal makeup”, like the voice of a loved one murmuring in your ear.”
The material on Meditations was inspired by the artist's solitary retreat in Oaxaca, Mexico. The EP series is the follow-up to her much-praised 2015 debut album A Taller Us, one that earned kudos from the likes of NME and The Sunday Times. As well as collaborations with Jean-Michel Blais and Pierre Kwenders and more, Delorme has kept up a steady cycle of composition for film and production for musicians and special projects.
There are no live dates scheduled at this time.
