Drake keeps shattering records.
His Scorpion album has now had five consecutive weeks atop the US albums chart and his song “In My Feelings” sits at No. 1 on Billboard magazine’s Rhythmic songs chart, banking him a cumulative total of 100 weeks of No. 1s on the countdown. The previous record was held by Rihanna with a total of 99 weeks.
Perhaps even more noteworthy is the fact that his catalogue of releases has now accrued 50 billion-plus streams on various platforms, a new world record.
Drake has been on a streak of smashing streaming records, including 1 billion album streams in a week, single-day records for Apple Music and Spotify (and then again). The almost unimaginable 50 billion number was announced earlier this week in a news release from Republic Records Media, representing Young Money, Cash Money and Republic.
The total number of streams is hard to independently verify. Apple said last month in an Instagram post that Drake has surpassed 10 billion lifetime streams. Industry sources say the Spotify number from of chart-eligible streams may exceed 13 billion. However, the total may be much higher, taking into account other services not counted for chart purposes.
