The Beaches - "Fascination" (Universal Music Canada): 2018 has been a memorable year for the Toronto-based female rockers. Back in March, The Beaches won a Juno Award as Breakthrough Group of the Year, and have since justified that nod with the success of their singles “Money” and “T-Shirt" (a No. 1 rock chart hit), a 16-date Canadian headlining tour, and a nomination for Best New Canadian Artist at the iHeart Radio MMVA.
Look for them to sustain the momentum with this new single from debut album The Late Show.
In a label press release, lead singer Jordan Miller explains that "this one came together really quickly. It was written about an adventure I had in Berlin a few summers ago, then written in Los Angeles."
The propulsive riffs and deadpan vocals initially evoke The Strokes, but the tune then takes on its own upbeat vitality. Long-time band collaborator Jacknife Lee (U2, The Killers) produced “Fascination,” and he does an ace job of capturing the group's signature live energy.
The Beaches are currently supporting The Glorious Sons on Canadian dates, then playing their own headlining shows in late November. Itinerary here.
