Luca Fogale: Half-Saved

Luca Fogale - "Half-Saved" (Amelia Recordings): This new single and video is the first preview of new music from the BC singer/songwriter's forthcoming sophomore album, due this fall.

Fogale made a real mark with 2016 album Safety, and his songs have been featured on Grey's Anatomy, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Station 19, generating more than 13 million listens on music streaming platforms.

Expect this haunting song and vivid clip to further his momentum. Fogale has a soulful and yearning voice (Rhye is a point of comparison), and the song gradually swells in intensity before coming to a gentle end.

In a press release, he describes “Half-Saved" as "one of the first songs I’ve written about the questions that I’ve had since leaving the Catholic faith nearly a decade ago. Questions about feeling worthy of salvation, or love, or consciousness, or purpose - asked without ever having learned how to find these things in the absence of guidance.”

The video, directed by Hunter Siede, featuring dancer and choreographer Kyle Tanguay, was filmed on the streets of Philadelphia. The director notes that "using Luca’s breathtaking music in combination with Kyle’s emotive choreography gave us the ability to evoke feelings of isolation, confusion, and longing. The result is a mesmerizing piece on the subtleties of finding oneself.”

Raised in Burnaby, British Columbia, Fogale has previously toured Canada, the US, Australia, Japan and is currently on a North American tour with Dermot Kennedy. They play shows in Edmonton tonight (April 1), Calgary, (April 2), and Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom  (April 3-4). In July, Fogale plays Winnipeg Folk and Squamish, BC's Constellation festivals.
