Abacus' Insight Into Damage Lockdown Has Had On Musicians

A new Abacus Data study commissioned by Music Canada, a survey of 700 professional musicians in Canada reported that the average number of bookings in 2020 is eight, down from last year’s average of 87. More than half of the musicians surveyed stated that they have zero performances booked for the remainder of the year.


The pandemic has also caused anxiety that has affected creative output.

From the report: The technical aspects and isolation make performing difficult, and the income replacement is nowhere near enough to make up for in-person performances. Many musicians report steep learning curves with technology and dissatisfaction with the lack of connection a digital experience creates between them and their audiences.”

Kid Cudi is canceling his upcoming Insano World Tour {which included stops in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal) due to an injury suffered while performing at Coachella over the weekend.

Cudi relayed the news to his fans in a heartfelt note on Wednesday (April 24), in which he revealed that he actually broke his calcaneus — the bone that forms at the heel — in the stage fall.
