In the last book of 2020 (also known as the year from Hell), it’s time to see how the latest PPM radio ratings, released Wednesday, have shaken out. The new PPM release from Numeris completes the thirteen-week period covering Aug. 31, 2020, to November 29, 2020. All listening for this period occurred during the pandemic, sometimes yielding unusual results.
The top 5 markets:
Toronto: Bragging rights at the top of the ratings heap go to CBC Radio One delivering a 16.9 % share for A12+ (up from 15.9 %). Taking the #1 spot with females 25-54 is Radio One delivering an 11.3 % share followed by CHFI-FM with 10.2%. Radio One holds the #1 spot for males 25-54, posting a 12.9% share followed by BOOM-FM with 11.7& and Q107 with 10.6%. CBC Radio One leads the way for M18-34 with 18.1%. followed by Q107 at 16.1%. Oh boy, no that should be oh girl……... for F18-34, Q107 leads posting a 19.7% (up from 17.3%). I can’t explain it. Is now the time to talk about sample size? That will be coming in another article.
Vancouver: CKNW grabs the #1 spot for A12+ with a 14.6% share of hours tuned (up from 13.5%). Taking the top spot for F25-54 was JR-FM posting a 12.3% share followed closely by ROCK 101 at 12.0%. FOX holds the lead for M25-54 listeners, delivering a 13.4 % share (up from 12.5 %). The FOX is out in front for M18-34 with a 21.1 % share of hrs. tuned (up from 19.5 %). When it comes to Females 18-34, ROCK 101 is well out in front with a 16.9% share.
Edmonton: UP 99.2 takes #1 with A12+, posting an 8.1% share of hours tuned (flat with the last book).
Calgary: New Talk 770 leads the way for A12+ with a 9.6% share (up from 8.3%) 101.5 Today Radio is popular with females, taking the #1 spot for F25-54 delivering a 15.9% share (up from 14.5 %). For M25-54, X92.9 rules with a 9.4% (down from 10.5%). XL 103 takes the top spot for M18-34 delivering a 10.9%. Wild 95.3 steps out front for F18-34 posting a 12.5% share followed by Country 105 at 12.4%.
Montreal: CHMP 98.5FM is #1 for A12+ (Franco) with a 20.4% share (down from 21.8%). For A12+ (Anglo) CJAD 800 is #1 with a 29.8% (up from 28.7%). 105.7 Rythme is tops with females, taking #1 spot for F25-54 (Franco) delivering a 17.4% share (down from 20.2%). For F25-54 (Anglo) The Beat 92.5 is, once again, waaay out in front #1 with a 30.8% share (down from 31.8). For M25-54 (Franco), NRJ 94.3 is on top at 17.6% share (up from 16.8%). For M25-54 (Anglo), CHOM is #1 at 25.1% (down from 28.5%).
