The 2021 Prism Prize for Best Canadian Music Video was awarded to Theo Kapodistrias, for his clip for Haviah Mighty’s Thirteen. We will continue to profile noteworthy Canadian videos that are eligible for the 2022 prize, including this one from a fast-rising young singer/songwriter.

Katie Tupper - Danny

Katie Tupper is a singer, songwriter, and producer from Saskatoon, Canada. At a young age, she learned to play piano and fell in love with writing music and lyrics. She has mentioned that some of her musical influences growing up were Canadian pop punk bands as well as various neo-soul artists. Katie is a very soulful and creative artist - qualities which are shown in her music. Currently, Katie’s single How Can I Get Your Love? is featured on CBC Music’s Top 20.

Katie’s songs display her ethereal vocals and melodies - which are sure to draw you in. Katie will release an EP soon entitled Towards The End’, produced by Connor Seidel (Charlotte Cardin, Matt Holubowski). Her debut EP will have songs that carry messages about identity and love -  paired with fun, intimate and soulful music.

With the support of the MVP Project, Katie has released her newest music video for the song Danny. The video will take you on a comical yet picturesque post-break-up quest. Danny follows Katie as she looks for closure while taking a trip through the forest, walking by a lake and rock climbing. It is very clear that this video shows both literal and figurative symbols for carrying emotional baggage from an ex-partner.

Director and producer of the music video for Danny, Mashie Alam, has a diverse body of directional work. She loves cinematic and architectural aesthetics - which can be seen clearly in this video. Overall, the video for Danny is dreamlike, aesthetically pleasing and a joy to watch.

Grimes Apologizes for ‘Major Technical Difficulties’ During Coachella 2024 Set

"i had a bad feeling beforehand," she wrote on social media.

On Sunday morning (April 14), the 36-year-old musician took to social media to share a lengthy statement about the major “technical issues” during her Sahara tent performance at the Indio, Calif., music festival on Saturday night.

“I want to apologize for the technical issues with the show tonight. I wanted to come back rly strong and usually I always handle every aspect of my show myself – to save time this was one of the first times I’ve outsourced essential things like rekordbox bpm’s and letting someone else organize the tracks on the sd card etc.,” Grimes began her message on X (formerly Twitter).
