David Myles: If I Lost You (feat. Breagh Isabel)

David Myles: If I Lost You (feat. Breagh Isabel) (turtlemusik): The multi-award-winning platinum-selling pride of Fredericton is readying the release of It's Only a Little Loneliness, his 15th studio album, on Sept. 23.

The advance single If I Lost You is a co-write by Myles and in-demand sideman Joshua Van Tassel, and features guest vocals by Nova Scotian artist Breagh Isabel. Her voice harmonises sweetly with Myles', and the result is a tender ballad recounting a deep love (sample lyric: "I can't imagine facing a morning not getting to see you first").

Van Tassel mixed co-produced the track with Myles, adding electronic and vibraphone flourishes, while Myles plays classical guitar, trumpet, and flugelhorn, and Dean Drouillard adds bass.

In a label press release, Myles describes the new song this way: "Sometimes in order to love fully, you need to put the fear of its inevitable end on hold. This is a song about willfully ignoring that all things end in order to love more fully. Breagh's vocals really take this one to another level."

Chalk this up as another winner by Myles, a true musical chameleon. Most of his work falls in the roots/pop realm, yet, with fellow Maritimer Classified, he came up with what is reported to be the biggest-selling Canadian rap song ever, Inner Ninja.

Over these past years of isolation, Myles has continued to seek connection via his “not-so-late night talk show” Myles From Home on YouTube, which has since become a popular podcast by the same name. The show has featured a diverse selection of guests including Jeremy Dutcher, Shad, Alex Cuba, Bahamas, and Ria Mae. The podcast is just another feather in the multifaceted cap of Myles’ career, which includes numerous awards and accolades, a robust artist profile stateside, and a 2018 children’s book called Santa Never Brings Me a Banjo.

Myles returns to the road this fall to promote the new album. He performs with Symphony Nova Scotia at Rebecca Cohn in Halifax, on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, then starts touring with his Trio on Oct. 13. Check out all of the dates and details here.
