Nickelback, Keith Urban Head Explosive Lineup For Boots & Hearts

Billing itself as "Canada’s largest camping music festival," the four-day, multi-stage Boots and Hearts Music Festival has announced the full lineup for the event, held once again at Burl’s Creek Event Grounds in Oro-Medonte, Ontario. This year's edition features global rock behemoths Nickelback as one of the headliners, alongside the country superstars at the core of the festival's reputation. Nickelback takes the stage on Aug. 11, with Keith Urban (Aug. 12) and Tim McGraw (Aug. 13) each headlining a night. Homegrown Ontario star Tim Hicks heads the bill on the opening night of Aug. 10, preceded by Josh Ross and the Emerging Artist showcase.

The fest has been around since 2012, but this is the first year to feature rock acts, with Big Wreck and JJ Wilde upping the decibel level on the same bill as Nickelback. Other US and Canadian country stars featured at the festival include Dallas Smith, Hardy, Blanco Brown, Riley Green, Bailey Zimmerman, Travis Denning, Tyler Joe Miller, Tim & The Glory Boys, Cory Marks, Dan Davidson, and Nice Horse.

In a press release, Eva Dunford, Founding Partner, Republic Live (the Canadian festival producers), explained that “Since starting the festival in 2012, we’ve focused on delivering a premium festival experience and offering once-in-a-lifetime moments. This year, we are expanding on the musical experience to ensure there is something for everyone. A day trip to see the hottest acts in country and rock or a weekend of nostalgia with Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, and Nickelback. I believe there’s a genuine love affair with country and rock. We’re thrilled to host Nickelback’s only Ontario performance date and celebrate such a special moment with the global superstars.”

Over its decade-plus history, Boots and Hearts has won five Canadian Country Music Association Awards, in addition to international recognition from the Academy of Country Music, which nominated it for Festival of the Year.

Described as "Canada’s largest outdoor event venue," Burl’s Creek Event Grounds has the capacity for more than 100,000 people and 45,000 campers on its almost 600 acres of grounds. It has previously played host to, amongst others, The Rolling Stones, Blake Shelton, Neil Young, Miranda Lambert, Sam Smith, and, at last year's Boots and Hearts, Shania Twain.
