CBC returns “Baby It’s Cold Outside” to its playlists
A treasure trove of historic music footage from the archives has been excavated by Banger Films. The new six-part series includes rare performances from k.d. lang (pictured), Johnny Cash, Celine Dion, The Who, Gordon Lightfoot, Leonard Cohen, and many more.
One of the projects resulting from the deal is a three CD/DV disc-set capturing a CBC special that featured performances by some of the blues greatest names.
The agreement calls for the release of long-unheard transcription recordings done live on stages and in CBC studios, and gallery showings of some of the pubcaster's archive of photographic images capturing pioneers in jazz, blues and rock 'n' roll.
The television audience peaked with 1.5 million viewers when Barenaked Ladies with Steven Page reunited onstage to be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
