Lost Cousins -"Montreal" (Pheromone Recordings):  This psych-rock outfit released its debut full-length In Scenery last Friday (Feb. 1), preceded by this track.

"'Montreal' is about the urge to rearrange your life for someone you love completely, but knowing you're not able to and having to explain why. "It's about balancing commitments to yourself with those of others, and trying to find a happy medium," says the band in a label press release.

It adds that "' Montreal,' one of the last songs written during a long winter in a home studio, expresses a desire to seek new surroundings and experiences." The track effectively builds in intensity, with virile guitars complemented by some keyboard fills.
